The Role:
We are currently seeking a motivated Environmental Advisor to join our team, based at Vitrinite’s Vulcan Mine Complex near Dysart in Central Queensland.
Reporting to the Senior Environmental Advisor, you will play a key role in helping our Environmental department. This is a fantastic opportunity to get exposure to all aspects of environmental monitoring and compliance as new mining operations come on line.
Roster:
The position will be offered on either a Monday-Friday or a 7on/7off roster.
Key responsibilities:
- Conducting environmental monitoring (e.g. groundwater, surface water, dust, waste, weeds and flora and fauna), data entry, monitor field data for critical operational incident investigation and technical report preparation;
- Conduct site inspections for waste management, erosion and sediment control structures, rehabilitation progress;
- Assist in the delivery of environmental training with site personnel to aid best practice environmental management;
- Assist in monitoring environmental rehabilitation progression. Create and update maps of rehabilitated areas;
- Assist in inspections for vegetation clearance permits, provide spotter and catcher services;
- Conduct Environmental Risk management assessments to identify potential risks and assist in the development of plans to control these risks.
About the Candidate:
To be considered for this role, you will ideally possess the following skills and experience:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Natural Resources Science or equivalent;
- Class C driver’s license;
- Be proficient in QGIS and spatial databases;
- Knowledge of relevant Qld Environmental legislation
- Ability to work outside water monitoring or inside with data entry or report writing;
- Ability to live in the Moranbah-Dysart area or be prepared to relocate.
