About Us

Kernow has been at the forefront of the Environmental Health industry in Victoria for more than 26 years. With more than 45 Environmental Health Professionals across metro and rural councils plus a large immunisation team and support personnel, our staff have significant expertise and are respected leaders in the field. We have long standing relationships with a number of large and small councils in metro and rural Victoria and provide short term contracting solutions to various other councils within Victoria. 

The Role

This role is open to either Environmental Health Officers or Environmental Health Technicians and would suit someone who is experienced and /or enthusiastic about contributing to positive Environmental Health outcomes. The role is a full-time role, requests for flexible work arrangements including part-time hours will be considered.

Part of a network of professional and experienced Environmental Health Professionals, you will be based in Wangaratta reporting to the Team Leader, North East. 

In this role, your core responsibilities will be:

• Working closely with the Team Leader, North East to deliver the Environmental Health Service at Wangaratta;
• Undertaking food and health premises compliance inspections;
• Waste water assessments and on-site inspections;
• Investigating food safety and public health complaints;
• Providing tobacco educational visits and compliance inspections;
• Undertaking food sampling visits; and
• Investigating infectious disease notifications.

About You

To be successful in this role, ideally you will have recent experience as an Environmental Health Professional operating in a local government environment. Supplementing this experience, you will possess relevant tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health, Health Sciences or a related field.

You will also have excellent communication skills, a demonstrated ability to operate both autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment and manage stakeholders. You will be motivated to develop professionally and embrace new technology. You will also hold a valid Australian drivers licence. 

This role would suit an Environment Health Professional interested in a tree change within one of Victoria’s most idyllic regional locations. The Rural City of Wangaratta is located on the banks for the Ovens and King rivers, with easy access to King Valley Valley wine & Milawa Gourmet Regions, High Country and Snowfields.
