The OpportunityWe are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Epidemiologist to join our dynamic team and contribute to groundbreaking research in the field of infectious diseases. The successful candidate will play a key role in conducting epidemiological research on both local and global projects, with a primary focus on a COVID-19 vaccine effectiveness study using national data sets. Additionally, the candidate will oversee pneumonia surveillance, AMR (Antimicrobial Resistance), and NHMRC CRE (National Health and Medical Research Council Centre of Research Excellence) projects in Lao PDR.

Your Responsibilities Include

  • Perform epidemiological research, including data collection, cleaning and analysis
  • Contribute to teaching, supervision and mentoring on infectious diseases epidemiology and research methods
  • Organise and maintain ethics approvals for the project
  • Contribute to protocol development
  • Assist and contribute to data generation for research, publications and reports
About You
  • Postgraduate qualification in infectious disease epidemiology
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Interest in global health
  • (Desired) Medical or public health degree
  • (Desired) PhD in epidemiology
  • (Desired) Experience in analysing large linked datasets
  • Capability to undertake occasional travel is desired
