This is a unique opportunity to expand your professional horizons while making a significant impact on patient lives in New Zealand. We are seeking dedicated and experienced Geriatricians to join our client’s dynamic healthcare team.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Diagnosing and treating illnesses: As a Geriatrician, you would be responsible for diagnosing and treating a variety of illnesses prevalent in older adults.
  • Referring patients to specialists: If necessary, you would refer patients to other medical specialists for further diagnosis or treatment.
  • Monitoring the side-effects of medication: You would keep track of the side-effects of medications prescribed to your patients.
  • Assessing the risks of medications: You would assess the potential risks associated with medications, especially since older adults may react differently to drugs.
  • Paying attention to the mental and physical health of patients: You would monitor both the mental and physical health of your patients, providing comprehensive care.
  • Providing medical and lifestyle advice: You would provide advice on medical treatments and lifestyle changes that can improve the patient’s overall health.
  • Providing robust, well-informed preventative treatment: As a Geriatrician, you would propose resource-specific treatment regimens.
  • Diagnosing physiological anomalies: You would be skilled in diagnosing both innocuous and harmful physiological anomalies.
  • Pinpointing assistive gadgets: You would recommend assistive devices that can alleviate pressing health-related symptoms.
  • Working in a multidisciplinary team: As a Geriatrician, you would often work as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with other medical colleagues, including GPs and other hospital doctors, as well as experts in the community such as social workers.
  • Providing rehabilitation after illness: You would provide rehabilitation services to your patients after an illness and need a comprehensive knowledge of physical treatments, adaptations, and aids.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Medical degree from a recognised institution.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to make decisions in the best interest of the patient.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Compassionate and patient-centred approach to healthcare.

  • A copy of your Passport.
  • Recent registered experience working as a Geriatrician.
