Job description

Position Title: Executive Assistant to the CEO

Position Number: POS0138

Launceston is growing, and so are we! The City of Launceston is an award-winning employer, giving us the credentials to say we are where people want to be.

With a new CEO, we enter a time of positive enthusiasm, and energy to match. Working closely with the CEO and the Office of the CEO, along with our Executive Leadership Team, this role will be critical in supporting what Launceston delivers for both our community, and organisation.

If you enjoy being in the engine room, supporting decision makers in a fast-paced environment, then we have an office for you!

This role offers more than a salary. It provides a career, unmatched experience, lifestyle, and reward. The City of Launceston offers one of the most amazing lifestyles, with a diverse range of offerings. The Council is enriched by its existing team, providing opportunity for career growth both now and into the future.

Whilst the role is defined by the title of Executive Assistant, it is so much more in reality. Bring your amazing professional initiative skills to the team, and we will in return support you – to be you!

The Office of the CEO oversees a broad range of City of Launceston activities including the management of some of Launceston's most popular community facilities, the governance of Tasmania's largest Council, and delivering innovative new projects on behalf of our community.

We are looking for someone who demonstrates, through their behaviour, an alignment with and an understanding of our organisational Values and who has the following qualification, skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications or minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Competent in using the Microsoft Suite of Applications and capable of learning and effectively using Council’s Corporate Software.
  • Demonstrated comprehensive organisational and stakeholder awareness and understanding.
  • Proven history of developing and maintaining effective internal and external relationships with people from a variety of government, commercial and community backgrounds.
  • The need to be agile, and work in an environment that exudes high energy, but keep those around you grounded.
  • High level of written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be highly organised, exercise initiative, discretion, use sound judgement and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to respond to multiple issues and coordinate and organise activities at the same time.
  • Excellent memory, eye for detail and proven history of accurate work.

If this lights your fire, then you need to talk to us. For further information on how to apply please head to the employment page of our website at www.launceston.tas.gov.au and download the Employment Information Pack relating to this position.
