Job description

Your new role is for a department that contributes to the government's strategic objectives in the areas of workplace health and safety, electrical safety, workers' compensation and industrial relations and labour hire regulation. They seek to improve work health and safety and workers' compensation performance through regulatory and policy frameworks and the provision of evidenced-based services and advice to improve outcomes for workers.

The successful candidate will be required to perform the following:

  • Day to day administration management of the Office of the Executive Director, Business and Corporate Services;
  • Organising meetings
    • Printing meeting documents and electronic filing
    • Ensuring timely response to all correspondence, emails and requests
  • Coordinate, manage and prioritise correspondence, reports, submissions and email messages, and research appropriate reference sources to ensure the Executive Director is well informed to make timely and suitable responses;
  • Attend internal meetings and perform secretariat duties, including taking and distribution of meeting minutes;
  • Ensure quality assurance of all material presented to the Executive Director ensuring corporate standards are met;
  • Develop and maintain the Executive Director's confidential filing systems, including the maintenance of Business and Corporate Services correspondence electronic tracking system to ensure all information is accurate and filed correctly;
  • Arrange travel for Business and Corporate Services team;
  • Undertake other activities as requested by the Office of the Executive Director, Business and Corporate Services;
  • Provide administration support to the Office of the Executive Director, Business and Corporate Services; and
  • Actively participate as an effective team member in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, OHS and ethical behaviour.

Essential requirements for this role:

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team with a high level of accuracy and strong attention to detail;
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to provide administrative support, especially in tracking correspondence to ensure tasks are achieved in an effective and efficient manner; and
  • Demonstrated ability to utilise relevant software packages to enhance administrative support, including high level ability with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
