Responsibilities of the Role: As a Support Worker, your role will involve working within individuals' homes, workplaces, and community settings, aiding them in fostering independence and meaningful relationships.
Your responsibilities encompass:
- Cultivating an enjoyable, respectful, and safe environment for all individuals under our care.
- Providing personal and physical care and assistance to clients, encompassing grooming, toileting, meal preparation, home support, transportation, and medication administration.
- Assisting in the utilization of physical and communication aids, as well as other personal equipment when necessary.
- Offering support conducive to clients' successful participation in their individual interests, hobbies, and community relationships.
- Facilitating access to recreational and transportation services, including public transport, taxis, and Achieve Australia vehicles.
- Advocating for and facilitating access to community engagement opportunities for clients, their families, and significant individuals in their lives.
- Ensuring completion of client documentation, including writing case notes, updating our client management system, and managing medical documentation and communication booklets.
- Strong interpersonal, role modelling, and customer service skills.
- Problem-solving abilities with an ability to adapt to changing environments.
- Understanding of and commitment to National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and Code of Conduct and Workplace Health and Safety.
- Awareness of human rights and challenges facing individuals with disabilities.
- Current VIC Driver's License – this is a must.
- CPR
- First aid
- National police check
- Full comprehensive car insurance
- A certificate related to the disability sector: this includes but not limited to a certificate in aged care, home and community care, mental health, youth work, EN etc**
