The Role
We are seeking to engage a driven Tunnel Engineer to join our collaborative Geotech & Tunnels team in Sydney. In this role, you'll undertake varied Engineering tasks of limited scope and complexity under the direction and guidance of more senior Engineers; design engineering knowledge and effective project management skills to support the ongoing activities of a leading multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Carrying out detailed design in the area of Geotechnical and Tunnels to a high standard and tight timeframes under broad supervision
- Conducting Field and Site investigations
- Assisting more senior Engineers with the analysis of information, production of designs and computations under broad supervision
- Preparing specifications, proposals and other documentation under broad supervision
- Using a combination of standard and modified Engineering methods/techniques in addition to those developed in previous assignments for the purpose of solving problems
- Preparing client and technical reports
- Liaising with other design disciplines to develop and maintain design coordination
- Assuming responsibility for the accuracy and correctness of calculations prepared for design
- Working within project timeframes and budgets
About You
Suitable applicants will be able to/have:
- Tertiary Qualification (Engineering)
- Minimum 3-6 years' experience as a Tunnel Engineer within the industry
- Undertake key technical tasks independently across a broad range of small profile projects
- Successfully monitor and manage the scope and risk of multiple varying size projects and apply business systems
- Prepare technical reports and prepare proposals on small projects
- Utilise good time management skills with the ability to plan workloads and meet deadlines
- Effectively work across a variety of projects learning new skills and knowledge quickly and efficiently
- Be effective in managing client relationships and expectations
- Problem solving / analytical skills
- Good communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Ability to independently use basic theoretical knowledge of Engineering principles to analyse, interpret and conclude on standard matters or decisions
- Familiar with relevant Australian Standards
- Good interpersonal skills to work effectively within a diverse and multi-disciplinary environment
- Ability to apply new knowledge
- Skills in managing competing priorities and working under pressure
