Exploration Field Technicians

Norwest Exploration Services are looking for experienced Field Technicians with prior soil sampling experience, for a number of exciting roles in north west Queensland. Must be able to work independently in remote regions and comply with a rigid safety communications schedule.

Other duties may include the following key responsibilities:

Surface drilling campaigns – Air Core, RC and Diamond Core drilling

Daily rig and site inspections near mine and regional campaigns

Assist geologists with field reconnaissance and sampling

Site cultural clearances, track and pad markout and clearing supervision

Supervision and mentoring of new starters learning new skills

Participating in daily core collection and processing to train others

Coordination with contractors and site support equipment

A pre-employment medical, including drug & alcohol screening will be provided

You will have:

Sound GPS skills with knowledge of QGIS and QField an advantage

4WD experience. Completion of a 4WD training course an advantage but not essential

A strong belief in OH&S and the concept of zero harm

Queensland Class C manual driver’s license

Possess good organisational ability and forward planning skills.

Working knowledge of Word and Excel

Actively encourage open communication among the team

Be physically fit

Forklift license desirable, but not essential. Training provided.

Substantial on-the-job training provided where needed

Skills and Experience:

Prior industry experience is essential. Ability to fit into a team environment, follow instructions from team leads as well as help new starters. You’ll bring a keen attitude to succeed, participate pro-actively in safety meetings and a willingness to learn. You’ll have a keen eye for detail especially in following QC procedures and accurate sample location, mark-up and collection.

Safety is our number one priority. All successful candidates will receive comprehensive training in remote work, First Aid, CPR, Fire and site-specific inductions on full pay.

14/7 FIFO ex Brisbane, Townsville or Cairns.
