About Nickel West
Nickel West is a fully integrated mine-to-market business. Our culture is rich with technical know-how, highly efficient and focused on innovation. The business employs over 2500 people from five operations across Western Australia comprising of nickel underground and open-cut mines, concentrators, a smelter and a refinery. We also have plans to expand our operations with new mines in the northern Goldfields and a large Nickel Sulphate plant in Kwinana.
Nickel West Mt Keith is located 460 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in the Northern Goldfields. Nickel West Mt Keith is a surface mining operation with multiple open pits and a concentrator plant. The operation is surrounded by pastoral stations, with the nearest townships being Leinster and Wiluna. There’s plenty to keep you entertained in the Mt Keith Village. Take the heat off the day and head to the pool – or join in any number of social activities. Employees commute to and from Perth on a fly in / fly out roster or from regional areas on a drive in / drive out roster.

Reporting to the Senior Geologist, you will join a committed team that is motivated to deliver the next Nickel-Sulphide deposit to Nickel West. The role of Exploration Geologist is team oriented with accountabilities including geological data collection, QAQC, drill hole tracking, lab liaison, target generation and geological modelling. This opportunity provides the chance to develop your exploration skills within the Agnew-Wiluna Belt - a world class nickel-sulphide province that is highly prospective. The role is located between Mount Keith & Leinster on a FIFO basis or residential and forms part of a growing Exploration team.
As an Exploration Geologist within the Exploration team, you will be given the opportunity to:
Acquire and interpret relevant geological information during drilling and field campaigns relevant to mineralisation targeting and regional geology understanding
Deliver geological models and ideas with strong focus at prospect scale through the integration of multiple datasets.
Contribute to the design of effective exploration data acquisition plans that are project specific and permit the fastest route possible to a robust decision point for the next phase of a project.
Testing exploration targets through drilling, geophysical and geochemical data collection
About You
To be successful in this role you will be an accomplished and highly collaborative Exploration Geologist. You are team-oriented and results focused with a demonstrated track record in achieving results.
In addition, we are ideally looking for the following skills and experience:
An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
Bachelor of Science majoring in geology;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Demonstrated ability to work in a team oriented environment;
Exposure to 3D software and modelling processes, in particular Leapfrog Geo;
Exposure to ArcGIS and acQuire highly regarded;
Exposure to Kalgoorlie Terrane geology highly regarded;
A full current Australian driver’s license.
