THE OPPORTUNITY
Karora holds a significant land position at Higginsville of approx. 1,900km2 over the highly prospective Norseman-Wiluna greenstone belt and is excited by the growth potential of the project area.
Due to an internal promotion, we have an Exploration Geologist role available within our Geology team. Reporting to the Geology Manager, this role will assist in the identification and generation of quality drill targets with the aim of discovering and developing resources to fulfil and expand on the requirements of the Higginsville Life of Mine (LOM) plan. This is a pivotal role for the company as it embarks on a phase of increased exploration activity across the highly prospective exploration tenure at Higginsville.
- Assist in the preparation and daily management of exploration and resource development drilling programs such as Aircore drilling, RC drilling and Diamond drilling, as well as geological field mapping and surface geochemical sampling.
- Undertake quality geological logging and sampling of all drilling including data validation
- Reporting on drill programs with timely and accurate collation of geological data (including QAQC)
- Interpretation of geochemical and geophysical data sets
- Project generation and development of drill targets
- Good report writing skills
- Liaise with Contractors and Stakeholders as required
ABOUT YOU
- B.Sc. Degree majoring in Geology
- Minimum 6 months experience in Archean gold exploration
- Current “C” Class Western Australian driver’s licence
- Previous exposure to Leapfrog and QGIS
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient computer skills & literacy, particularly across the MS Office suite
- Excellent communication skills with a can-do, team-oriented attitude
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise multiple tasks
- Desire to maintain a proactive safe working environment
