The Role
To discover more minerals in old ground and help build a carbon-zero future, RSC requires an Exploration GIS and Data Professional to support its technical team in Perth and abroad. The successful applicant will work closely with our team of explorationists, geoscientists, and resource modellers to deliver a superior consulting service to clients. The work includes:
- validating and managing geological data from projects around the world;
- constructing, compiling and maintaining relational databases;
- capturing, digitising, and reviewing open file data;
- compiling GIS workspaces and preparing graphical outputs;
- contributing to reporting results in accordance with the JORC Code or other international codes, including draft and peer reviews; and
- very occasionally conduct site visits to inspect and collect data.
Depending on experience, additional duties may include reviewing quality assurance procedures and quality control data, client meetings, training, mentoring junior team members, and business development.
WHO we are looking for to join our Team
At RSC we are focussed on your skills and experience. Typically, you will:
- have 2–10 years of experience working intensively with geospatial and geological sample data;
- have experience in data management systems, for example DataShed, Geobank acQuire, SQL, Access;
- be exceptionally talented in data management and GIS;
- have great mathematical skills;
- have a great communication style and interpersonal skills;
- be able to report your written findings concisely, logically, and efficiently;
- reside or intend to reside in Perth, Western Australia; or Dunedin or Wellington, New Zealand; and
- hold at least one degree in geology (MSc or higher preferred), or a degree in data science and significant experience in the resource industry.
