ABOUT THE ROLE
Circle Green has been given an opportunity to expand our legal assistance to people applying for protection visas and appealing their refusal in the AAT and the Federal Circuit Court. Be a key part of system change and reform across the refugee legal process. This is a fixed term project and we need fastmoving and adept people. As part of a dedicated core team, you can expect to work across sector stakeholders to increase access to justice for every client.
If that sounds like you, then read on, as we have specific requirements that we need:
- Completed your Restricted Practice and have an Unrestricted Practising Certificate.
- Administrative law experience (migration law a huge bonus but we will consider lots of areas).
- Litigation or appeal experience - that means that you’re happy to stand up on your feet and advocate for your clients – we’ll consider a broad range of advocacy experience.
- Experience working with diverse client groups.
- Experience preparing applications and legal documents.
We require candidates with a broad range of experience. We are looking for senior lawyers with supervisory experience as well as unrestricted lawyers (PAE 2 +).
Whilst professional exposure to the asylum seeker process and issues would be highly desirable, it is not mandatory, however passion for a fair asylum seeker process is.
The contract is until June 2025 and the project is commencing immediately.
