We have a talented enthusiastic team, with staff at entry level through to years of experience, who are helping to further develop our technology and to increase our production capability. We are looking to grow this team and have an immediate need for experienced Metal Fabricators / Welders.
ABOUT THE JOB
We currently have a need in our team for Metal Fabricators / Welders to help with the manufacture and fit-out of our tanker trailers as well as general factory fabrication duties. This will primarily be involving metal constructions, but some plastics and piping work may be required.
To be considered you will need to have a minimum of 3 years relevant experience along with a Certificate III Metal Fabrication qualification or equivalent and be capable of the following:
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and work instructions such as work orders and data packs.
- Preparation of work areas, tooling and equipment required to perform welding and fabrication work.
- Selection and preparation of the necessary materials to perform welding and fabrication work including but not limited to cutting, grinding, bending, drilling, and shaping. This will necessarily involve the use of other workshop equipment such as pedestal drills, bandsaws, docking saws, grinders, plate and pipe benders.
- Using measuring equipment to ensure dimensional accuracy of the work being constructed.
- Joining prepared metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting, and riveting.
- Examination of welded joints for width of bead, penetration, and precision as well as overall quality of the join.
- Cleaning and smoothing of the welded joints using filing, chiseling, and grinding techniques.
- Preparation for and application of any required corrosion protection to the fabrication potentially including the localized application of paint.
Annual salary range is $70,000 plus superannuation as a base with lots of overtime on offer for a skilled and successful candidate.
