Global Manufacturing Group is seeking to employ a Full-Time Fabricator/Welder to work with our team in Gladstone QLD.
Duties include:
- Read and interpret workshop drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with client requirements
- Check all components are correct and conform to drawings before fabricating and should a non-conformance be detected, report immediately to the supervisor
- Accurately measure marks and scribe dimensions and reference points on work pieces as guides for subsequent fabrication
- Select and/or manufacture jigs, and welding procedures to deliver finished product in a timely and efficient manner
- Set up welding machines so as to maintain correct weld specifications
- Verify conformance of finished work pieces to specifications
- Fit and assemble parts into complete assembly
- Verify dimensions and alignment of assembly
- Confer with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve fabrication or assembly problems to establish the quality, finish and delivery required
- Commit to lean manufacturing systems and good housekeeping habits within department
- Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop department, and team members
Qualifications:
- Relevant Certificate III or higher level qualification
- Work experience:
- At least 2 years of experience as a Welder.
Skills:
- Work well in a team environment
- Reliability and pride of workmanship
- Read and interpret engineering drawings
- Select and setup MIG and TIG welders for operation
- Efficiently strip out wire, liner, tips, shrouds etc. for replacement of changeovers
- Select correct gas and set regulators for correct gas flows for application.
- Successfully run quality MIG and TIG weld on 1.6mm Mild Steel and Stainless Steel, Aluminium optional-(Horizontal position 300mm long test pieces.)
- Successfully run quality MIG and TIG weld on 3.0mm Mild Steel and Stainless Steel, Aluminium optional-(Horizontal position 300mm long test pieces.)
- Successfully run 10mm fillet on 10mm Mild Steel in the- (Vertical Up position 150mm long test pieces.)
