Organisation
This large NFP operates state-wide services to better the lives of Aboriginal children and families.  All whilst building culturally strong, safe and thriving communities. 

Role
We are currently recruiting Family Practitioners to engage First Nations families with children and young people aged 0-15 years old, and also pre-birth.

You will work with your families supporting safe and healthy family functioning, prevent the removal of children from their families, and also support children already living in OOHC where family reunification has been deemed safe and suitable.

To do this successfully, amongst other duties you will;

  • Provide intensive wrap around family support
  • Engage and support the children and families through strengths-based and evidence informed practice
  • Risk assessments, making appropriate referrals
  • Provide outreach and home visits to all families on your caseload
Selection Criteria
  • Knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal people in contemporary Australia.
  • Ability to work in a culturally respectful manner with Aboriginal children, young people, and their families and communities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the effects of intergenerational and personal trauma
  • Knowledge and understanding of risk assessment frameworks, service responses and intervention plans for vulnerable families
  • A well developed understanding of issues that impact on Aboriginal families, children and young people, particularly those involved in the child protection system.
  • The ability to set goals and help families work towards achieving them
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Extra Info
  • This role requires a VIC driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Minimum Bachelor Social work or other related degree.
  • Salary is SCHADS Level 4 plus super and NFP salary packaging benefits
  • All applicants will need to provide a VIC WWCC and a National Police Check prior to starting in the role.
  • All applicants must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19
