Family Visit Worker

Location: Mudgee and surrounds

Casual Opportunity 

This role is paid under the Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services Award 2010- Level 3 $36.00/hour + Casual Loading

About the Opportunity

The Family Visit Support Worker works in partnership with the Case Manager to support parents and children to maintain and grow meaningful relationships in a safe supervised care environment and to facilitate the Family Visit goals of children and young people.

The role is involved in the planning, supervision and providing feedback, to ensure successful family time for children and young people, family members and carers.

The Family Visit Support Worker is responsible for all aspects of supporting children and young people, family members and carers during Family Visits and providing transportation to Family Visits.

Essential Criteria 

  • Tertiary qualification in Community Services, Child Services or related field
  • Demonstrated experience in supervised contact, out of home care, children’s services, youth work or a related field
  • Demonstrated understanding of child and adolescent development and the impact of trauma
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour and prevent and/or de-escalate crises
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with and engage vulnerable children, young people and their families
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring children and young people
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to maintain confidentiality and accountability; including records of children and young people and their families, team and organisational discussions
  • Knowledge and/or willingness to learn the relevant Government legislation applicable to the Permanency Program
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evening, weekends and public holidays

The successful applicant will possess or willingness to obtain the following: NSW Working with Children Check, Criminal History Check, first aid & CPR certificate and undertake a pre-employment functional medical
