Job description

ABOUT US

Goodwill Projects is one of South East Queensland’s largest and most dynamic markets, events and venue management businesses.

We are proud winners of the 2023 Telstra Business Awards – Building Communities and 2024 Australian Small Business Awards, beginning as pioneers of Brisbane Farmers Markets in 2006. Today we coordinate 12 highly popular markets across South East Queensland. We are about creating vibrant and lively spaces people WANT to be in.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Managing a market is like setting up a little shopping centre each week, without a roof and four walls. We’re currently seeking a new team member with sensational organisational skills who is ready to be a hands-on organiser at one of our most iconic markets on the Gold Coast

The market you’ll manage could either be on a Sunday.

Our market manager can be depended upon to lead all on-site operations, will be confident in building vendor relationships and enjoy creating warm and welcoming spaces for customers.

Early mornings form part of the role. The successful candidate will need to be ready to go at 2.30am and enjoy long, energetic market days. (approx. 12 hour days).

In preparation for market day, administrative tasks are undertaken, including managing the stallholder application and communication, weekly market site planning, ensuring a good debt management process and liaising with our Marketing team for social media content and customer enquiries. Managers enjoy flexibility throughout the week, with a mix of working from home and coming into our Fortitude Valley office.

The role will also oversee, coordinate, and deliver our annual special events. These include (2) major events throughout the calendar year.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will love early starts, be able to work outdoors, be physically fit, and LOVE interacting with people from all walks of life.

You are a highly organised, confident and an honest people-person with a great deal of common-sense. Able to provide direction to others, with a smile and positive attitude – that’s 98.8% of this role.

You are very proficient with customer service, comfortable coordinating emails and ad-hoc phone calls during the week, looking after vendors and their enquiries, and arranging stall placements each week. The role can be physically demanding at times and you enjoy working in a fast paced environment where no two days are the same.

And of course, you enjoy an active, vibrant lifestyle which might include attending a few local markets.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years customer management experience, or working in a retail, event or hospitality environment.
  • Strong Customer service experience. This role will involve taking calls and assisting our customers with a varied range of questions.
  • Ability to identify problems and seek fast solutions
  • Computer literacy is required, including database management.
  • Experience in leading a team. The role requires your expertise in managing a small market team, as well as coordinating over 100 stallholders.

DETAILS

  • Fulltime $65k – $75k + Superannuation + KPI Bonuses
  • 1 day per week onsite at the market.
  • Attractive working conditions with administration during the week balanced between office and WFH.
