About the role
You will be involved in working as a machinery operator/farm hand on a daily basis. The position involves performing duties in all areas across this extensive farm including seeding, spraying, spreading, harvesting and transporting grain to the destinations. You will also complete some maintenance of farm structures and equipment. You will undertake general farm maintenance and paddock preparation such as repairing farm water systems, cleaning up paddocks, minor earthworks, fence removal etc.

Whilst the township of Mingenew is only small it boasts a “big” community which includes sporting clubs, an active grower group, Mingenew Expo, Turf Club, CRC, shire facilities, day care, playgroup, Silver Chain and a well resourced primary school. With the beautiful beaches and seaside town of Dongara only 30 minutes’ drive away and the large regional city of Geraldton 1 hour north, the location provides the opportunity to access an active lifestyle. Secondary school buses provide access to Dongara District High School, Morawa District High School and WA College of Agriculture Morawa.
About You
For this role you will bring the following;
- Broadacre cropping experience including the operation of modern, large-scale cropping plant and equipment including
- JD tractors including - 9520 RX and 9570RX
- Harvesters and harvesting equipment - S680s and S780s
- Air Seeders
- Tug-a-long and self-propelled sprayers (including calibration, preparation and operation)
- John Deere guidance systems
- Deep Rippers, Spreaders, wheel track renovators, stubble crunchers and earth moving equipment and loaders
- Ability to maintain and repair large scale, modern plant and equipment including mechanical and basic fabrication skills.
- A tech savvy approach to your work including Smart Phone Apps, in cab monitors and software.
- An understanding of your responsibility to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others and the ability to direct and support less experienced team members and casual staff when required.
- A willingness to learn, adopt new practices, participate in training and further develop personal skills, whilst working in a team environment.
- Good communication skills including verbal and digital and be willing to participate in and contribute to planning, reviews, and training sessions (on the farm and with the rest of the group).
- Current chemical users’ certificate, driver and truck licenses preferred but not necessary.
