A privately owned farming aggregation at Roma in Southwestern Queensland has a position available at their new 3000 head feedlot for a Feedlot Livestock Hand. The feedlot aims to produce high quality beef and focuses on long-term profitability and sustainability.
Reporting to the owner, your duties include all aspects of induction, feeding, animal health, record keeping, and feedlot maintenance to high standards to promote continuous improvements in weight gain in a clean environment, and you will supervise another feedlot hand from time to time.
This full-time position is best suited to an energetic and efficient worker with a happy outlook and a passion for working with cattle who uses their initiative, has strong observation skills, and pays close attention to detail. Applicants with previous experience in a similar position in a team working environment are encouraged to apply and the farmer will teach some skills to the right applicant. And career progression to feedlot manager is available for applicants wanting to settle in and grow their career as the feedlot expands in the future.
The position commences with 3 months’ probation and comes with comfortable air-conditioned accommodation including electricity with bitumen road frontage and school bus at the gate to your choice of schools. Pen riders must bring their own horses and tack, with accommodation for strictly 2 horses only. Pets are by negotiation. Regional centre Roma is just 25 minutes’ drive and caters to all your shopping, healthcare, sports, and recreational needs.
