About the Role
As an experienced Field Technician / Splicer, this field-based role will have you engaged in jointing and splicing activities and occasionally you may supervise less senior jointers / splicers. Your position requires you to interact with customers and employees at several levels as you work across multiple contracts. From time to time you will be required to work at night and travel away from home.
Your duties will include are not limited to:
Jointing and splicing activities
Coaching of less experienced jointers / splicers to enhance their competency skills
Fault location and restoration using OTDR testing equipment
Report on critical delays that effect the delivery of projects
Ensuring appropriate tools, safety equipment and materials are available and are in good clean working order to enable the timely completion of task
From time to time as required, assist the hauling and civil team
Complete workbooks
Providing daily reporting through NOVUS and progress updates ensuring they are true and correct ensuring projects are completed in a timely manner
Booking on CMARTs and completing daily mandatory safety paperwork
Knowledge and understanding of construction drawings
Complete technical works across Panel / Wideband / Data IP and DOE projects
About You
It is essential that you have the following:
Telstra Advanced Jointer / Splicer Accreditation
Telstra Technician Skills including –
Cut Over Knowledge
OTDR experience
understanding technical manuals
confidence working on Telstra wideband projects
confident in completing Telstra Optic Fibre workbooks
familiar with rack and sub rack installations inside Telstra exchanges
Confidence in splicing and handling large optic fibre cables daily
ACMA licence
Hold a current driver’s licence
Level 2 Traffic awareness certificate
Construction Industry White Card
Current First aid and CPR
Possess strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Be self-managed with sound time keeping skills
Self-motivated and strong team player
Vaccinated against Covid 19 and influenza
