Quinn Allan is working with a mid-tier accounting firm to identify a Finance Manager to join their internal finance team. This is one of the fastest growing Professional Services firms who just moved into a new, state-of-the-art office based in Melbourne CBD. Providing a range of services to clients, this organisation has a flat structure, with an open-plan office for all members of the team, including Partners. This is a young ambitious firm, with the finance function playing a pivotal role in supporting future operational activity.
About the Role:
Reporting to and working alongside the Chief Operating Officer, the Finance Manager position is key to ensuring the smooth operating of the company. Sitting in the broader shared service centre, this role has one direct report who undertakes transactional finance duties (AP, AR, bank recs, etc.). This position will gain high level exposure to the senior leadership team, and will be a direct finance point of contact for any queries. This role will take full responsibility for finance, and would suit a professional individual who is keen to build their career and broaden their executive level exposure.
Key Duties:
- Produce and upkeep accurate financial accounts;
- Assist more junior members of the team in their activities (i.e. AP, AR, bank recs, etc.) when required;
- Maintaining trust accounts;
- Effectively managing cashflow;
- Monthly financial reporting, advising COO and Partner Group and actuals vs budgets, reforecasting, etc.;
- Providing monthly board packs;
- Strategic planning regarding budgeting and forecasting;
- BAS, IAS & Payroll tax, and;
- Ad hoc requests as they arise.
For success in this position, the Finance Manager will have previous experience of running end to end finances. They will ideally come from a Professional Services sector or similar environment, with experience of handling high level stakeholders. They will also have experience of managing and developing direct reports.
Key Attributes:
- Circa 7 years accounting experience;
- CA / CPA qualified;
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, macros, etc.);
- Multiple systems experience;
- Comfortable with taking ownership of payroll;
- Excellent communication skills, and;
- The ability to build strong communication skills.
