Finance Officer

Position Title: Finance Officer

We are seeking a dedicated Finance Officer for our federal Government Client. As a Finance Officer, you will play a pivotal role in managing the financial operations and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and regulations.

This is a fixed term 12 month contract role.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and update the organization's financial systems
• Oversee accounting and financial operations
• Prepare reports and documents covering accounting transactions for management review
• Review payroll reports
• Follow procurement framework
• Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, as well as invoicing procedures
• Provide support to staff with finance queries
• Contribute to the Agency Audit process with queries and supporting documentation
• Prepare financial requirements for the Agency, such as BAS and FBT returns
• Provide professional accounts information for external and internal reports
• Ensure effective finance and administration record management and archiving
• Make decisions concerning matters affecting own work area
• Contribute to other Agency projects as required

Key Requirements

• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field of studies (finance, accounting, etc.) or proven work experience as a Finance Officer
• Solid knowledge of financial and accounting procedures and regulations
• Experience using financial software and accounting systems (TRIM and SAP)
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders
• Ability to work independently and flexibly, with limited supervision
• Strong project management skills and experience
• Demonstrate a principled approach to the APS Values and Code of Conduct
• Previous Commonwealth Government financial management experience (desirable)

Negotiable salary between $85000-93000 plus super 15.4%
