We do this by providing low cost automated financial advice through a digital product that is continuously rated by our clients as easy and simple to use.
Stockspot currently manages over $750 million dollars on behalf of our 13,000+ clients. We are able to successfully manage this with a small team, given technology does a lot of the heavy lifting. This role provides an exciting opportunity to join our team to continue to drive the growth of our business.
Role purpose
The Financial Writer reports to our Head of Growth and works closely with the broader Stockspot team to support our ambitious plans for Stockspots growth. To be successful in this role you will thrive in a fast-paced environment and draw on your collaborative and problem-solving skills to enable rapid scale and growth of our business.
What you'll do
- Seek out and write pieces of interest that amplify Stockspots vision, purpose, investment philosophy, products and our clients
- Develop our content strategy aligned to achieving our overall business strategy and growth targets, including creating a content calendar to educate and inspire our clients
- Create fresh content, including reports, blogs and emails to keep our communication impactful and captivating
- Write SEO focused blog content to improve organic search ranking and drive traffic to our website
- Update and refresh content to aligned with marketing plans and reflect global market trends
- Reviewing existing and write new EDM content to engage with our clients
- Analyse and report on key insights to continually optimise content throughout the user journey
- Converting videos into engaging blog content that educates our clients
What we are looking for
- Passionate and an expert in passive index investing and ETFs
- A high degree of finance knowledge and education by staying up to date with best practices and current trends
- Self-motivated and driven to succeed
- Good understanding of SEO
- Keen to deliver, learn, iterate and grow as much as we are
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, including the ability to adapt communications to meet the needs of different audiences
- Strong technical writing and editing skills to create high quality content
- Result-driven mindset with a focus on delivering measurable commercial outcomes
Your experience
- Degree qualified
- Demonstrated success and experience in finance journalism
- Demonstrated experience in designing and executing content strategy
- Demonstrated experience in project management with the capacity to manage competing priorities, maintain attention to detail and to meet deadlines
- You have worked in a hands on way with marketing platforms including Mailchimp, CRM, digital marketing platforms (e.g. Google Analytics, Google AdWords, Facebook Adverts Manager), blogging platforms (e.g. Wordpress)
- An understanding of financial products and investment concepts

Our team works in a hybrid environment, which means Monday, Wednesday & Fridays, we come together in person to our centrally located CBD co-working office which allows in person collaboration, training, lots of opportunities to share food and regular team social events. Tuesday and Thursdays we work from home. Stockspot has many other staff benefits we would love to tell you about!
This role requires you to work in our Sydney CBD office and is not open to remote working applications.
