The NFIA is looking to expand its officer team with the new position of Technical Manager. This role could be based in any major Australian city and comes with a degree of flexibility.

The National Fire Industry Association (NFIA) is an Australia-wide community of Fire Protection Contractors and their people, suppliers as well as stakeholders, representing a wide and varied Membership. We comprise of Members from the smallest sub-contractor through to large Australia-wide businesses. We partner with our Members to enable them to deliver first class quality Fire Protection outcomes to the Australian community.

The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Fire Engineer or similar to gain exposure within the Fire Protection Contractor market. We are looking for someone to join a collaborative team with the ability to influence the professionalism of the industry.
Ideally you will have previous consulting experience on building materials, structure or building, fire systems, human behaviour and safety, and the prevention, detection and suppression of fire.
NFIA has representatives on Australian Standards Committees and the Australian Building Codes Board providing the successful applicant with the ability to be involved with the direction of Fire Protection Standards in Australia.
Key Accountabilities:
- Development of a technical support strategy for Members
- Support Technical Committees and their Chairs
- Supports NFIA representatives on various Australian Standards Committee’s
- Develop technical bulletins and create a technical library for members
- Run and manage your own projects
- Answer day to day member technical enquiries
- Assist in technical submission to governments
- Assist in licensing submissions to government
- Present at members meetings
- Undertake other general duties as directed by the CEO.

Desirable
- Bachelor of Engineering or relevant Diploma Qualification
- Previous experience in the Building Services Industry
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) (Fire Safety) listed on National Engineer Register (NER) or Chartered Engineer through The Institute of Fire Engineers
- Knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and relevant Australian Standards
- Experience working in a geographically dispersed organisation.
