Qualifications & experience
- The Fire Technician must have proficient knowledge in the following areas: - Portable fire equipment, hose reels and fire hydrants. - Fire system installations, repairs and maintenance. - Installation & maintenance of sprinkler valves, diesel and electric pumps.
- The ability to work successfully both independently and within a team environment.
- An understanding of and experience in applying workplace health & safety practices.
- High level oral and written communication skills including the ability to effectively consult, collaborate and build strong professional working relationships with colleagues, clients and industry representatives.
- Ability to perform manual work over extended periods of time.
- Ability to use SimPRO software.
- Construction White Card.
- Working With Children Clearance (Ochre Card)
- Northern Territory Drivers Licence.
- NTPFES Contractor Card
Tasks & responsibilities
- Provide professional and respectful interactions with clients and co-workers to ensure customer satisfaction and timely delivery of services.
- Provide fire installation, repairs and maintenance locally and in remote locations.
- Testing, maintenance and repair of fire alarm/control panels, detectors, pumps, emergency/exit lighting and other associated equipment in the industry.
- Installation and maintenance of smoke detection, early warning, VESDA and evacuation systems.
- Installation of cable/conduit, ducting and other cable enclosure or support systems.
- Maintenance of sprinkler valves, diesel and electric pumps.
- Flow and pressure testing of hydrant systems.
- Scheduled routine inspections and testing of fire equipment and systems
- As required, be available for after-hours callouts on a scheduled roster.
- Ensure all job details and documentation are recorded in SimPRO daily.
