A permanent opportunity has become available for a Fitter to join our team on the Defence contract at Robertson Barracks, NT. Our mechanical crew on the workshop floor/slipway are responsible for maintaining an array of different Defence fleets. What you will be doing
- Perform maintenance, servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance; undertake major overhauls and authorised modifications to vehicles, plant and defence equipment
- Reassemble, test, clean and adjust repaired or replaced parts
- Work within timeframes specified to the required work standards
- Work on a large array of varied Defence marine craft fleets including: LCM8 Landing Craft, LARC-V Amphibious Vehicles, Inflatable Zodiac boats, Outboard motors and Miscellaneous marine accessories
About you
Our ideal candidate will have:
- A certificate III base trade in Fitting/Turning (or equivalent)
- A current or previous marine maintenance experience would be highly sought after
- Additional qualifications including Confined Space, Working at Heights, EWP and forklift operations would also be highly advantageous
- A current CPR qualification (desired but not essential)
- The ability to promote a positive HSE culture in the workplace
- Open and clear communication within a team environment
You must be an Australian citizen and be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance.
