Job description

FOOD SAFETY COORDINATOR
FULL-TIME (38hours) or P.P.T. 


Our organisation is seeking to employ a Food Safety Coordinator. You will be responsible to provide expertise and guidance to ensure our stores comply with food process legislation and implement changes our business needs to make, to maintain regulatory compliance or prepare for future changes. 

  • Must have own car. Required to travel within the metropolitan area between our supermarket sites on a weekly basis. 
  • A requirement of 2 or more years of experience working in a similar role specifically in a food manufacturing environment, with knowledge in Food Safety law.
  • To offer advice to senior management, conduct store & system audits, staff training, and support stores to ensure that food processes are met. 
  • Excellent communication and literacy/administrative skills is a requirement with strong computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook).
  • Reviewing current processes & procedures and ensure compliance with legislation to avoid any Food Safety risks.
  • Developing and maintaining Food Safety processes/plans and quality programs, to ensure accuracy, suitability and compliance.
  • Implement improvements and corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement Food Safety procedures and policies for all stores as needed.
  • Conducting inspections/audits of food processes/procedures to ensure compliance with Food Safety and quality regulations.
  • Maintain and update our current Food Safety system.
  • Coordinate training needs for Food Safety and other associated training and provide support to supervisors and staff to develop their skills and capabilities.
  • Preparing, participating, assisting and/or performing regulatory and compliance audits. 
  • Provide advice and assistance to managers when conducting store audits & evaluations.

As an individual you must be highly motivated, self-starter, honest, reliable, efficient, able to prioritise projects, accept responsibility and follow through without close supervision and able and willing to work the hours necessary to meet weekly deadlines.

You must conduct yourself in a professional manner, including appearance and demeanor, at all times.
Report to senior management and or Directors.
Maintain a favorable working relationship with all employees to promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate that will be conducive to employee morale, productivity and efficiency/effectiveness.
