About the roleMercy Food Service Rockhampton is seeking applications for an enthusiastic, customer service focused Food Service Assistant / Kitchen Hand to join the team in a casual capacity. Work hours will be weekdays, standards business hours. No weekend or night shifts required.

Our Food Service Assistant shall be responsible for the scullery and assisting with the cleaning of pots and pans to provide a quality Food Service to customers.
Salary Range: $29.59 - $32.09 per hour + plus super + salary packaging access up to $15,900.
What you’ll be doingFood Service Assistant / Kitchen Hand you will be involved in a variety of activities throughout the day, including but not limited to:
Assisting with general cleaning duties, including the cleaning of pots and pans
Ensure that all sliced meat products are as per recipe requirements and are handled, recorded and documented
Mince and puree meal product
Ensure all cooked and minced meat product is in date prior to use
Ensure all packaged product is correctly labelled/packaged and vacuumed sealed
Take daily retention samples of food product
Ensure all dispatch trolleys are not overloaded and are correctly labelled and filled
Advise the Head Chef if production product is missing or unable to send an item
Unload the cook/chill production trolleys onto food bank shelves ensuring product is correctly placed
Liaise with the Head Chef to assist with co-ordination of kettle production schedules
Maintain the retention samples and wastage sheets
Ensure that all dispatch/food bank machines and equipment are correctly cleaned and sanitised after each use
About youTo be successful in this role, you will have:
Understanding of food safety principles and basic hygiene
An ability to achieve goals and objectives with minimal supervision
Sound communication and interpersonal skills
Certificate in Occupational Hygiene is desirable
Previous experience in a comparable position highly desirable
