Food Technology Technician

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Food Technology Assistant provide support to the Food Technology teachers to ensure smooth running of the Food Technology program. Their organisational skill and support adds value to the success of classroom teaching and student learning.

·       Setup food, equipment as required for practical classes.

·       Setup for demonstration as required for teachers.

·       Assist with the distribution of food.

·       Photocopy recipes for classes if required.

·       Clean up and put away food and equipment after classes.

·       Check students¿ sinks, benches, stove-tops and equipment after use and wipe over, if necessary.

·       Collating weekly food orders to ensure that all ingredients and equipment are on hand at the beginning of each lesson.

·       Replenishing any existing stock or equipment regularly.

·       Purchase specialised food for students with food intolerances and specific religions.

·       Check use by dates and rotate stock.

·       Check temperature and storage conditions.

·       Report maintenance issues and label if unusable.

·       Wash, dry and fold tea towels and aprons after classes. Put out tea towels in classroom.

·       Maintain in a clean and ready to use condition the following;

o   Equipment used by the teacher for a demonstration

o   Working surfaces and benches & drawers

o   Cupboards, storage areas, cooking equipment and appliances.

·       Check, prepare and put away stores keeping pantry in an orderly manner.

·       Tidy shelves, drawers, and cupboards.

·       Check all electric, gas appliances and master switches are turned off at the end of days¿ classes.

·       Purchasing of supplies and preparing the costing for each student at each year level.

·       Regularly reviewing suppliers and costing.

·       Completing the ordering process including compass financial management in a timely manner.

·       Assist with stocktaking and equipment inventory.

·       Assist with the preparation of catering for internal / external events.

·       Assist with the Game Changer program by providing support to Food related activities including food ordering as directed.

·       Undertake other duties in Food Technology area as required.

·       All cleaning products are labelled and stored appropriately and used as per instructions. Safety data sheets to be maintained and updated.

·       Each term clean microwaves, stove tops, ovens, grills and range hoods and wipe over student aprons.

·       Assist with pack down at end of year.

·       Attend KLA meetings as required.

·       Attend professional development.

·       Other duties as may be directed by the Principal, Assistant Principal, KLA Instructional Leader or Business Manager.
