About the role and program

Our Forensic Residential programs aim to deliver lifestyle and skills support for clients and support clinical intervention and treatment programs. The support provided involves helping adults who have a disability and an offending background to develop life skills, implementing treatment strategies and facilitating meaningful engagement in activities and opportunities to improve quality of life, reduce the risk of reoffending, and increase opportunities for community reintegration.

The Forensic Case Workers will, in collaboration with Corrections Victoria, provide an effective, flexible and responsive after-hours and response to clients on post-sentence orders. You will be responsible for working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support our clients achieve positive outcomes with respect to their identified needs and goals.

What we're looking for

  • Ideally, a minimum of 1-2 years' relevant or equivalent experience
  • Forensic experience (Police/Department of Justice) would be advantageous
  • The ability to enter and work in a prison environment
  • Experience developing support plans and goal attainment strategies
  • Confidence and ability to build positive relationships and communicate with people of diverse backgrounds and abilities
  • Knowledge and competency in casework practices
  • Demonstrated capacity to work flexibly, possess the ability to manage competing demands, and able to effectively set boundaries and limits where required
  • An extensive background working with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people will be highly regarded
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • While most work will be undertaken within standard business hours, there is a requirement for flexibility and willingness to work afternoon and weekend shifts as needed.

Please note, this position will require the ability to work weekend shifts and flexibility with hours dependent on residents' needs.
