What's the role?

The Fox Sports News/AFL Tonight Reporter will be responsible for the daily gathering and reporting of news events and stories for TV programs AFL Tonight and Fox Sports News.

You will play a key role in driving the Television network's AFL coverage, while having the opportunity to deliver breaking news, feature stories and interviews with the game's biggest names across AFL Tonight and Fox Sports News.

Working in a high-paced environment, surrounded by sport-loving individuals, you'll get the chance to develop and quickly enhance your technical and editorial skills.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Strong understanding of the media landscape, particularly the production of television news programs.
  • This is a television reporting role requiring the successful applicant to cover sports news and events, with a particular focus on AFL.
  • Deliver Live crosses, Live and pre-recorded interviews, TV news packages (including pieces-to-camera) and LookLives to run across Fox Sports News and AFL Tonight.
  • Write and edit news content for on-air use, including AFL Tonight.
  • Pitch original TV news ideas and coverage solutions.
  • Attend and report on media conferences, training sessions and events while developing working relationships with key sporting contacts.
  • Shoot press conferences, interviews and original content as a video-journalist.
  • Effectively communicate with editorial staff in Sydney while operating in the field.

Who are you?

  • A minimum of two years reporting experience
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Sound editorial judgement
  • In-depth knowledge of a vast array of sports, with a particular focus on AFL
  • The ability to work under pressure in a LIVE and fast-paced news environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience as a video journalist desirable
  • Knowledge of Quantel editing desirable
  • ENPS experience desirable
