Job Description

Are you a skilled Regulatory Affairs professional seeking flexibility in your work schedule? We are currently seeking experienced individuals to join our team on a freelance/contracting basis. As a Regulatory Affairs Associate with Avicenna Consulting, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects in the complementary medicines, food, cosmetic, and consumer health space while maintaining a healthy work life balance. 

Note: At Avicenna Consulting we operate on a project basis, which means workloads may vary from week to week. While there could be significant work during certain weeks, there may be limited or no work during others. We value transparency and believe in fostering a mutually beneficial relationship with our associates.

Responsibilities

  • assessing new and existing products to determine regulatory positioning
  • advising on actions that need to be taken to place a product in a certain regulatory category
  • undertaking literature reviews and assessments of evidence to support the safety and efficacy of products
  • preparing justification documents which explain how and why a claim is supported by evidence
  • supporting the preparation of safety, quality, and efficacy dossiers for the evaluation of new ingredients and products by the TGA
  • completing tasks within agreed deadlines.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in life sciences, pharmacy, or medicine 
  • 2+ years working in the Australian healthcare industry with complementary/listed medicine products or foods which make health claims that are supported by systematic reviews OR proven ability to conduct literature reviews to support a particular outcome
  • A sound understanding of the regulation of listed and complementary medicines by the TGA or health foods by state/territory agencies OR proven ability to acquire this skill (e.g by understanding a similar regulatory framework)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide scientifically sound advice
  • Self-motivated to provide high quality advice within required timeframes.
  • Ability to work autonomously with direction
  • Previous experience as a regulator a bonus but not essential
