To support the ongoing growth of their award-winning business, an experienced FreshProduce Manager & Assistant Buyer is required to drive the unique service offering they have become known for.
  
The Role
As a Fresh Produce Manager & Assistant Buyer, you'll have full accountability for the day-to-day running of our client’s Fresh Produce department including training and developing of staff, ensuring sales targets are met, quality control, building long lasting relations with suppliers and growing the Fresh Produce department.

Reporting to the director, your duties include but not limited to:

  • Regularly attending the Sydney Markets each morning and sourcing high-quality products that align with consumer trends and ensuring competitiveness in both product and pricing.
  • Lead and manage the produce team according to the company policies, overseeing daily operations and ensuring adherence to procedures
  • Arrange and merchandise seasonal displays and specials promptly upon market arrivals, maintaining an attractive presentation.
  • Ensure accurate pricing and ticketing of all produce items, serving as the primary contact for customer inquiries related to produce.
  • Guide and train the team to operate efficiently and precisely, defining clear job responsibilities within the department.
  • Create rosters and leave

You are an experienced leader dedicated to forging strong relationships with local suppliers and customers alike. Your passion extends beyond procurement to mentorship, fostering teams and boosting morale within your organisation.

To be considered for the role, you must be able to address the following criteria

  • Previous experience in a leadership role within a produce and retail environment.
  • Strong knowledge of produce quality, seasonal trends, and market dynamics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage teams and drive performance.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on achieving sales targets and cost management goals.
  • Australian Driver Licence
  • Forklift licence
