Position Vacant - Hotel Front Desk /Reception GSA
About the Hotel
Mercure Launceston is a dual listed property also comprising of Hotel Launceston. With a total of 79 rooms which offers 4.5 star accommodation in a central location, directly opposite beautiful city park we cannot be faulted for convenience. We are currently looking for a motivated, bubbly and vibrant Guest Service Agent to join our friendly Front Office Team on a Casual Basis.
Often the first point of contact for our guests, the GSA is the face of our hotel, primarily responsible for greeting guests and ensuring their stay is pleasant and comfortable.
Key responsibilities include:
- Welcoming guests to the hotel in a friendly and professional manner.
- Checking guests in and out, making reservations, and managing online and phone bookings.
- Addressing and resolving guest queries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Providing information about our hotel, available rooms, rates, and amenities.
- Collaborating with all internal teams to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Processing payments and maintaining a balanced cash drawer.
- Keeping the front desk area clean, organized, and well-stocked.
- Responsible to complete daily operation tasks that have been assigned by the Front Office Manager and the Hotel Manager.
- Liaise with our housekeeping and maintenance departments to ensure all rooms are clean, stocked, and fully functional. Also, communicate any special guest requests to the relevant team.
- Keep accurate records of guest information, including identification data, transactions, and any other relevant information in the hotel database.
- Receive mail and packages for the hotel and guests, ensuring they are correctly logged and promptly delivered.
- Assist guests by providing detailed information on local dining spots, tourist attractions, and events. Make reservations or book transportation as needed.
- Provide comprehensive handovers to the next shift, noting any ongoing issues, special guest requests, or important tasks that need to be addressed.
We’re looking for…
- Minimum 1–2 years’ front office experience, in 4-5 star hotel/resort environment, or similar
- Protel knowledge & experience, desirable
- Deliver a high standard of quality customer service, creating memorable experiences for our guests
- Excellent admin skills including attention to detail, organisational and efficient time management skills
- A professional face-to-face and telephone manner, active listening, strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Work well in a team environment and with diverse groups of people
- Be self motivated, confident, friendly, enthusiastic and have a positive attitude
- Excellent personal presentation
- Problem solving skills and work well under pressure
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts on a rotating roster between 7am-11pm, weekdays, nights, weekends & public holidays

Pay: $29.00 – $39.84 per hour
