The Role

The Frontline Trainee position is a fixed 18-month program designed for school leavers who are passionate about technology, eager to learn, and committed to developing their IT skillset. This role is crucial to the school support ecosystem, providing onsite support at various schools and supporting the wider central office support. 

The Frontline Trainee will work closely with experienced IT professionals, gaining hands-on experience and knowledge in areas such as hardware and software troubleshooting, network administration, cybersecurity, and IT support.

This position provides an excellent opportunity for career growth and advancement within the IT field. In this traineeship, you will study to obtain yourCertificate IV in Information Technology.

This role requires on-site attendance at one of our eight (8) secondary schools within CSBB, under the supervision of a mentor and the Trainee Coordinator. There may also be placement within our CCC head office, including to attend training modules. 

This is for 1 vacancy in the North Shore cluster. Specifically in the Hornsby area.

The Frontline Trainee will receive relevant mentorship and support, which is an excellent steppingstone for individuals looking to pursue a career in Information Technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accept instruction given by you in regard to work, training and instruction in the workplace
  • Attend and partake in the necessary training to complete relevant Cert III and Cert IV in Information Technology
  • Complete tasks, assessments, assignments, etc. that are set by as per the assigned course
  • Interact with students and staff to provide technical support. This experience will help you develop strong customer service and communication skills, which are essential for IT support roles.
  • Work closely with school stakeholders and seek to deliver solutions under the guidance of the Trainee Coordinator
  • Installing and configuring software and applications on devices including PCs, laptops and tablets;
  • Troubleshooting of programs and applications to resolve issues that may occur;
  • Enrolling devices to the CSBB Network;
  • Assisting with the Digital Enablement service desk via our portal and in person;
  • Installing and configuring Hardware;
  • Completion of work logged by staff onsite in a timely manner;
  • Ensuring CSBB implemented project outcomes are met/maintained;
  • Deploying/ Disposing of technology used by staff and students alike. 
  • Following cybersecurity best practices to help protect the organization's data and systems.

Essential Criteria

  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, and operating systems
  • Has knowledge in the Microsoft suite of products
  • Is energised by working in a fast-paced environment 
  • Strong passion for technology and a desire to build a career in IT
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and learn from experienced IT professionals
  • Eagerness to adapt to new technologies and processes
  • Attention to detail 
  • A commitment to upholding IT security and confidentiality
  • NSW Valid Working With Children Check 
  • Desirable: Current NSW Driver’s Licence (and own car)
  • Permanent Working Rights in Australia

Position on COVID-19 vaccinations

Given the current management of risks associated with COVID-19 in the community, and the gradual wind-back of some settings, CSBB has decided to no longer require all staff to be fully vaccinated, effective 19 September 2022. Staff who are not vaccinated will be required to wear masks when working with children at greater risk of serious illness owing to a medical condition and/or physical disability.
