Form of work We require up to 120 hardworking, physically fit & reliable workers to work in the upcoming mango harvesting season, approximately 20 kms from Katherine CBD, Northern Territory. MUST be available to work from late June 2024 to late January 2025. Candidates must be available Mon to Fri with a potential of extra weekend work as needed by grower in order to complete harvest. Potential average of 8-12 hours per day for approximately 7-9 months of work (depending on crop availability). Early starts (often between 5:00 to 6:00 am during high temperature 40 + degrees days). Must be willing to undertake all other onsite general farms duties (e.g. weeding, pruning, planting etc.) as directed by grower and able to work in the Darwin River, Katherine, and Mataranka, NT regions. Manual picking and packing of fruit according to size, colour and ripeness. Discarding of rotting and over ripened fruit as instructed. Physically demanding work with long hours in all weather conditions. Attention to detail, high concentration level, good eyesight (no colour blindness) are essential. You will be required to sort fruit into different grade standards. This is a very labour intensive work. Outdoor / indoor work which can be very hot and dry OR wet. We need reliable, flexible and fit workers, no exceptions. Regular heavy lifting (6-12kg) and constant walking, bending and straightening. Gentle but fast hands needed. Ability to follow instructions is essential.
Previous (and current) physical outdoor activities or lifestyle habits will be highly regarded.
Casual flat rate based on Modern Horticultural Award 2020. No public transport available. Work is offered through an agency on a casual basis.
