Our Client:

Our client is a prominent independent media company in Australia, managing three major digital publications. With a rich history spanning over two decades in digital journalism, they employ over 50 professionals across various cities and collaborate with a global network of over 100 contributors.

What You'll Do:

Role Summary: Reporting to the Chief Growth Officer, you will play a critical role in developing, documenting, testing, implementing, and maintaining features for our client’s websites, newsletters, and related products and technologies. Your contributions will be key in transformation projects involving data warehousing, real-time data pipelines, and AI, with opportunities for future career advancement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop new software features, WordPress functionality, and third-party platform integrations via APIs.
  • Ensure the quality and proactive monitoring of software systems.
  • Participate in the design and engineering of technical solutions.
  • Contribute to project planning and product improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and meet technical requirements.
  • Provide project management support for larger technical projects.
  • Document current, future, and proposed technical solutions.

Requirements

  • Expertise in mobile/responsive website development and third-party technology integrations via APIs.
  • Proficiency with Git source control and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Github).
  • Experience with professional release management and monitoring tools (e.g., New Relic).
  • Familiarity with agile project management tools (e.g., Asana, Jira).
  • WordPress: Custom plugin and theme development, maintaining the latest versions of WordPress core and common plugins.
  • Modern CSS frameworks, ideally Tailwind.
  • Modern PHP: LAMP/LEMP stack, object-oriented programming, MVC design patterns, Laravel.
  • Modern frontend tech stacks: Modern JavaScript workflows (NPM, Node, PostCSS), Modern JavaScript frameworks, ideally ReactJS.
  • 4+ years experience
