Job description

Ducker Physio has two busy locations providing Private Practice physiotherapy services to the general community in the east (Magill) and north (Salisbury) for 32 years. In addition, we fully provide the sole in-patient physiotherapy service (orthopaedic and medical) to Calvary Central Districts Hospital (CCDH) at Elizabeth Vale as well as some orthopaedic inpatient services at North Eastern Community Hospital (NECH). We will continue to be involved with CCDH in their exciting move to the new northern Health Hub at the Playford Health Precinct, Stage 3, in approximately 2026 which will be about double its existing patient bed numbers and theatres.

Patient post-surgical load is extremely wide-ranging and interesting involving mainly musculoskeletal in nature and giving a well-rounded professional experience. Vast range of upper limb and lower limb orthopaedic post-surgical conditions from 14 orthopaedic surgeons at CCDH and 3 orthopaedic surgeons at NECH and then their outpatient follow-up at our appropriate branch. Predominately the surgical patients are Private but with some Compensable, DVA, Medicare / EPC and in recent times some Public Patients from the nearby public hospitals. Patient medical load is quite varied from post falls, acute varied medical episodes, respiratory illnesses, deconditioning for various medical reasons, along with some oncology. 

This job requires the ability and skills to work occasionally independently but usually with another experienced physiotherapist, as well as in a close multi-disciplinary team mostly at CCDH each day. You will also be heavily involved with the discharge planning decisions of all patients at CCDH being treated by our team. There will be some shared rostered “part-day” weekend work required with 4-5 other physiotherapists. There is no weekend work required in the outpatient rooms. Full support is given at all times by numerous experienced physiotherapists. With any Clinic/Room's work required you are always working with at least one other physiotherapist and a supporting administrative team. Ongoing learning occurs daily amongst all members of our team in a relaxed informal manner.

Full time position available. To start immediately or as soon as possible.

Remuneration negotiable depending upon your skills, experience and willingness to work efficiently. 

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate and perform:

  1. High-level professional communication skills.
  2. A friendly and calm disposition even when under work pressures.
  3. Solid prioritising skills.
  4. Previous hospital orthopaedic and medical inpatient experience required and preferably outpatient orthopaedic experience.
  5. Good hands-on manual therapy skills if working in the clinic(s).
  6. Ability to work in a team environment with other supportive & experienced physiotherapists and reception staff.
  7. Emphasis with treatment is expected to be very much based upon solid hands-on manual therapy skills along with patient education, specific exercise prescription and preventative programs.
  8. Degree-level qualification in Physiotherapy with current AHPRA full general registration.
  9. Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurances – certificate of currency. Minimum levels to be discussed.
  10. Current National Police Clearance certificate for physiotherapy employment and DHS Working with Children Check Certificate.
  11. Current Australian Driver's License & vehicle.
