Job description

The Strategic Finance Department at the Mackay Base Hospital is looking for a Funding and Performance Improvement Coordinator to join their team on a temporary basis.
Mackay Hospital and Health Service provides a public healthcare service to a population of more than 182,000 across the Mackay Region, Whitsundays and Hinterland. The district covers an area of approximately 90,000km2.

The Finance Department consists of Financial Accounting and Strategic Accounting. Strategic Accounting includes Management Accounting and Activity Based Management. Activity Based Management consists of two components, Activity Based Funding and Activity Based Clinical Costing.
Activity Based Management provides routine and ad-hoc information, analysis, and advice for various stakeholders such as the Executive, Service Directors, Business Managers and Clinicians.
About the Team

  • Work closely with the Director of Strategic Finance and the Senior Business Analyst of Activity Based Management to provide project management expertise, to support the successful delivery of complex, high-risk multi-disciplinary innovative projects.
  • Develop in collaboration with stakeholders, strategic and operational outcomes by providing business-focused performance data and analysis to identify improvement and to implement change.
  • Use high level of interpersonal, analytical and project management skills and experience to navigate the project lifecycle, delivering or supporting the delivery of projects in accordance with the agreed project parameters of success including scope, time, cost, and quality management principles.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the analysis and synthesis of health-related data to inform and support decision making.
  • Identify the potential and recommend mitigating strategies in relation to the potential impacts to data collection sets, data flows, health information systems and business key performance indicators (KPIs).
