Project Overview:
Future Proof, funded by the Australian Government Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants Program, aims to foster community recovery and resilience post the 2019-20 bushfires. Led by Youth Affairs Council Victoria (YACVic), the project unites fifteen organizations from fire-affected Eastern Victoria communities. Junction represents Wodonga, employing an Education Pathways coordinator and young peer worker for youth-led bushfire recovery initiatives.
The Youth of 3690 (YO3690) is Junction Support Services youth advisory group. Their main function is to bring youth voice into decision making at Junction. The YO3690 are tasked with informing and working closely with Windbreak3690 for programming and planning and also Future Proof for events and youth engagement.
Role: Future Proof Youth Worker and YO3690 Facilitator
- Responsibilities: Support YO3690 from recruitment through training, ensuring youth perspectives inform Windbreak3690 and Future Proof operations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with YO3690 to plan meetings, events, and programming.
- Support: Assist young people in certificate pathways under Future Proof, participate actively in Future Proof and Windbreak3690 activities.
- Community Engagement: Engage with local councils, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCO’s), and youth groups to promote opportunities and best practices in disaster recovery and youth engagement.
- Training and Guidance: Coordinate local youth training alongside YACVic, advocate for ethical youth participation in recovery efforts.

Selection Criteria:
- Tertiary qualification in Youth Work, Community Services or other relevant fields, with demonstrated experience (minimum of five years) in the rural youth or community development sector
- Demonstrated experience in engaging young people with education opportunities
- Sound knowledge of tertiary education pathways and an ability to interpret training packages.
- Demonstrated ability to develop positive, collaborative working relationships with a range of stakeholders including experience with liaising, networking and brokering relationships with professionals, businesses and community organisations.
- Excellent communication skills, including confidence in public speaking and the ability to facilitate workshops and meetings
