About the Role
MPG is seeking enthusiastic, skilled and reliable individuals to be a part of our gardening crew in the City of Casey council area.
You will be experienced in garden bed maintenance as detailed below.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that work is completed to a high standard in a safe manner and reported via our online management system. The successful candidate must also work well in a team and carry out tasks independently following direction, be physically fit, punctual and have excellent communication skills.
Primary tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting/participating in onsite safety briefings ensuring work areas are safe and the completion of JSA’s.
- Inspection, making safe and clearing litter, debris and dumped rubbish from garden areas
- Removing and reporting broken or fallen trees and tree branches
- Pruning shrubs, ground covers, tufted grasses and roses
- Mulching of garden beds
- Planting of shrubs, ground covers, tufted grassed and roses
- Watering of garden areas
- Mowing or slashing of grass
- Weed control and completing chemical application records (digital/paper-based)
- Clearing of garden areas
- Looking out for the safety of self and others
- Other horticultural duties, as required
Mandatory Skills:
- Previous experience in the garden bed maintenance.
- Chemical weed control certificate.
- Are physically fit, hard working with a strong work ethic.
- Current VIC Drivers Licence.
- Confident to tow a trailer.
- Current Working With Children’s Check.
- The ability to pass a police check.
- The ability to work safely and promote safety in the workplace.
- Attention to detail.
- Problem solving skills.
- Daily access to a smart phone and ability to operate digital technologies.
- The ability to work autonomously or as part of a team.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Horticultural certificate.
- MR licence.
- Mechanically minded.
- Chainsaw ticket.
- Current First Aid certificate.
