About the Opportunity

As Gatehouse Attendant you will 

  • Assist with the operations of the gatehouse and landfill areas
  • Identify items from incoming loads according to waste categories including hazards substances and dangerous goods
  • Attend to accurate collection of fees, maintaining records and daily reconciliations
  • Attend to the recycle shop operations including opening and closing, receipting sales, stock pricing, rotations and display
  • Directing customers to relevant drop-off sites
  • Assist with office duties as directed including data entry and record keeping
  • Ability to work every second weekend as rostered

Approximate Roster as follows: Minimum 64 hours per fortnight

About You

  • Demonstrated front line customer service experience that includes working in a fast paced environment and able to assess and quickly deal with customer enquiries 
  • You hold and continue to hold a current 'C' class Drivers Licence 
  • Good organisation and communications skills (both written & verbal)
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of computer related software including MS Office Suite and weighbridge software or similar
  • Experience in cash handling, receipting and end of day reconciliations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Workplace, Health & Safety requirements
  • Knowledge in the various categories of valuable scrap materials or the ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions in a physically demanding role
  • Previous experience in weighbridge and associated software operations is desirable 
  • Experience with or knowledge of the handling, storage and disposal of Hazardous Substances and Dangerous Goods is desirable
