We have an exciting opportunity for a Gender Equity Lead to join the Social Planning and Equity unit that sits within the Community Partnerships Department of the Communities Directorate. The position reports to the Coordinator Social Planning and Equity.

Working in partnership with the Executive Leadership Team, Managers and the Human Resource Management team, the Gender Equity Lead strategically leads programs and practices that work towards achieving gender equality, the prevention of gender based violence and supporting LGBTIQA+ inclusion outcomes as an organisation and a community. The position undertakes high-level research and provides advice on plans and strategies while utilising strong project management skills.

What you'll bring to this role;

  • The position provides leadership and guidance to Council on Gender Equity and effective strategies to drive positive workplace culture change.
  • Contribute to strategies, policies and events relating to Equity including Reconciliation, LGBTIQA+, and inclusion, as appropriate.
  • Lead and participate in any internal project teams, working groups and other networks as appropriate.
  • Provide research, planning and evaluation support across the Communities Directorate and the wider organisation as required.
  • Lead the delivery of GIA's and Nillumbik's Gender Equity Advocate Program.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders across Council Directorates to provide Gender Equity and LGBTIQA+ inclusion information and advice and establish strategic relationships with key external partners.
  • The position works with leaders and employees to embed an organisational culture that understands and demonstrates Gender Equity with an intersectional lens in decision making and behaviour.
  • The position is guided by the strategic direction of Council, including the:
  • Nillumbik Health and Wellbeing Plan - Coordination and facilitation of Gender Equity (GE) and Prevention of Gender based Violence (PGBV) priorities and actions across Council; and
  • Gender Equality Act 2020 legislative requirements - contribute to the development and support the delivery of Council's Gender Equality Action Plan (GEAP); implement Gender Impact Assessments (GIAs); and, review and monitor outcomes and contribute to progress reporting to the Commission for Gender Equality in the Public Sector.

Temporary full time position (parental leave cover) until July 2025 with salary package of between $115,379 to $128,854 total remuneration per annum that includes 11% super, annual leave loading and monthly RDO.
