The Katherine Club Inc. is a licensed club looking to employ a new General Manager to continue the great work of the incumbent General Manager who is moving on after fourteen years of outstanding service. As the new General Manager you will continue the philosophy of “continual improvement” and excellence in customer service, with a focus on attention to detail.

The Club, established in 1967, is community owned and is the premier family venue in Katherine with over 2,800 members. It has 45 EGMs, KENO, TAB, eight ball and darts facilities . It is also the home of the renowned “Pedro’s” Bistro. This is a successful Club with a positive community culture looking forward to continued success leading into the future.

Katherine, is situated 300 kilometers south of Darwin in the Northern Territory and services the “Big Rivers” Region of the Northern Territory, stretching from the West Australian border to the Gulf of Carpentaria, covering an area in excess of 336,0002 kilometers.

The General Manager’s position is a “hands on”, working role, with responsibilities including;

·         Day to day management of all areas of the Club’s operations

·         Excellence in customer service delivery

·         Lead, manage and overseeing the financial management and reporting of the Club

·         Provide meaningful and accurate reporting to the Board of management

·         Managing and nurturing your team to continual success

·         Communicating professionally with suppliers, stakeholders, and patrons

The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:

•         Demonstrated experience at a high level in the hospitality industry

•         Have a sound knowledge and experience in gaming, catering, bar, bistro, and club operations

•         Possess outstanding business ethics and integrity

•         Demonstrate the ability to lead and motivate effective teams to maintain the level of excellence that the incumbent General Manager has set

•         Be conversant with the regulatory and “best practice” requirement relevant to the operations of a licensed club

•         Ability to operate the business in accordance with community aspirations and expectations

•         Be a visible manager who is present and shows genuine care for people and the business

•         Take advantage of opportunities, including relevant innovative measures, to enhance the visitor experience and improve the position of the business

•         Hold, or be in a position to obtain, relevant legislative licenses and nominations

•         Be comfortable working at a higher level as well as being “hands on” in the day to day operation of the business

•         Work collaboratively with the Board of management and implement policy and directives

Renumeration – $125 – 140K pa (in addition to statutory superannuation), annual leave 6 weeks
