YOUR ROLE

We are looking for a General Manager, Learning and Leadership Development to join our Melbourne based People & Culture Leadership team. Reporting directly to the Director People and Culture, you’ll work closely with the Senior Leadership team, key stakeholders, and school leaders to create strategies that are committed to develop great staff to lead great schools. As the General Manager, Learning and Leadership Development this role will play a crucial part in the creation and alignment of talent strategies with organisational goals to foster a culture of continuous improvement. A focus on anticipating future learning needs will be essential as will leading and mentoring a team of learning professionals to design and execute a framework for Learning and Leadership Development that includes comprehensive programs for developing leaders, ensuring compliance and role-based learning, and providing tools to evaluate and handle our talent pipeline and succession planning initiatives. To do this the GM Learning and Leadership Development will have a passion for continuous learning, bring relevant industry and disciplinary expertise to lead and guide the use of systems, tools, and technology to enhance the learner experience. You'll partner with organisational leaders, have a close collaboration with the functional P&C line and influence practices that help our people thrive as our organisation evolves. In partnership with the Director People and Culture, this is a unique opportunity to cultivate a culture of continuous Learning and Leadership excellence.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Work closely with other areas of P&C and key stakeholders to understand organisational talent, Learning and Leadership Development needs to achieve MACS2030.  
  • Support the development of a robust, scalable learning framework for MACS incorporating mandatory / induction training, role-based learning, leadership, and professional development programs.
  • Assess suitability of current Learning and Leadership programs being delivered to schools and develop enhanced programs as required.
  • Track and monitor mandatory compliance training.
  • Contribute to monthly board reporting and briefing papers.
  • Support the implementation of an e-Learning management system as part of an HRIS implementation.
  • Manage MACS office professional Learning and development framework and budget for MACS office staff.
  • Develop and support cyclical processes for talent identification and succession planning for pivotal and critical roles.
  • Working in conjunction with the Talent Acquisition team, maintain segmented talent pipelines for pivotal and critical roles.
  • Develop, measure, and monitor key workforce metrics relating to learning effectiveness including trend analysis, diversity, and compliance.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Tertiary qualifications or certification in Human Resource Management, Education, business, or related professional discipline is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated success in development of learning frameworks and programs for a large multisite organisation. 
  • Proven experience in cyclical talent management and succession planning processes
  • Solid foundation in adult learning principles and learning effectiveness techniques.
  • Successful delivery of Learning and Leadership Development programs at scale
  • Genuine interest in professional development and continuous learning
  • Strong leadership skills with a passion for future focused talent programs and systems.
