This is an opportunity to join a very successful and growing Australian-owned business that specialises in manufacturing and engineering large equipment for the transportation industry.
Established for nearly 20 years, they manufacture large equipment and supply services to the transport industry. They have established themselves as a well-regarded company in this industry.
They have been going through a growth stage for the last few years and are ready to take the next step. This involves sourcing a General Manager with Manufacturing and, ideally, HEAVY VEHICLE knowledge experience to work alongside the owners and assist in taking the business to the next stage.
You will demonstrate leadership, ensure overall management responsibility, and link business and workflow decisions across the following key areas: Production and Service, Engineering, Materials Planning and logistics, IT, and Finance.
To provide overall direction of all operational functions, services, and business activities and be accountable for day-to-day and long-term operations and performance.
Oversee compliance with all legal requirements and standards that affect the business and operations. Responsibilities also include recruiting, hiring, performance management and training personnel, facility/physical plant upkeep and capital equipment. This is both strategic and operational.
We need someone who can Demonstrate an understanding of the principles and applications associated with manufacturing operations, maintenance, and engineering.
TO APPLY YOU SHOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS:
- A tertiary degree qualified in Engineering, manufacturing, Management, operations, or another related field.
- Experience in a key leadership/management role at a manufacturing facility.
- Previous experience/strong understanding of budgeting/expense management with a strong understanding of financial and accounting practices
- Strong computer skills, including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products.
- Previous experience/best practices implementing and using continuous improvement/lean tools such as Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, Transactional Lean, etc. to drive improvement.
- Previous experience/broad understanding of safety systems and enforcement of safety rules and policies
- Excellent people skills
- Strong communication skills.
