Your Opportunity
The General Manager - Project Controls will manage and develop the Project Controls team to successfully and sustainably deliver timely Project Controls and reporting across the business. With a strong focus on trending, forecasting, reporting and management of change, to contribute towards early influencing of cost and time impacts across projects and the business more holistically.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and evolve effective Project Controls methodologies, systems, and processes that enable efficient and transparent reporting and decision making.
- Lead and a functional team of approximately 20 people across various projects, ensuring that they have the necessary skills, resources, and support to achieve their objectives.
- Develop and mentor the functional team, providing them with regular feedback and coaching, and fostering their professional growth and career development.
- Oversee preparation of accurate and comprehensive project forecasts based on project progress and potential risks.
- Oversee the development and implementation of strategic planning, logic and sequencing, critical path analysis, lookaheads, productivity and performance analysis.
- Oversee the development and implementation of cost forecasts, methodology, techniques, and assumptions to drive effective communication of forecast variances to support early mitigation strategies.
- Drive collaborative relationships between the Project Controls teams and key stakeholders to deliver effective and proactive performance measurement controls.
What You ‘Can Do’
- University degree preferred (engineering, commerce, business, or similar discipline), but not essential.
- 15+ years’ experience in Project Controls essential, with 5+ years in a leadership role.
- Experience in Contractor organisations delivering projects across the service offering of Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning, particularly in the Minerals and Energy sectors.
- Experienced in the use of Project Controls systems such as Primavera, Prism and InEight.
- Experience managing a team.
- Strong statistical and analytical reporting skills.
- Strong proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and PowerBI.
