ERH services the Shire of Campaspe and the cross-border Murray River Council. Echuca Moama and townships are located directly across the state border from one another, separated by the Murray River.

ERH provides a comprehensive range of acute, medical, surgical and sub-acute services plus residential aged care and a broad range of community healthcare services. With a strong focus on increasing our capacity as a sub-regional teaching health service, Echuca Regional Health employees are dedicated professionals who strive to deliver the best possible care to their community.

Applications are sought from suitably qualified General Physicans to work in the Medical/HDU deprtment at Echuca Regional Health.

Key responsibilities include:

• Role model the delivery of adult general medicine services
• Ensure punctual attendance at rostered ward rounds to enable timely senior decision making, including for medical HDU patients
• Achieve optimal length of stay (LOS) for common general medicine presentations, without compromising patient safety
• Provide timely consultations for patients in other units upon request
• Supervise and support Doctors in Training (DiTs), consistent with their level of training and individual learning needs
• Ensure clear communication to patients and their carers, including following the Open Disclosure Policy when an adverse event occurs
• Ensure a Resuscitation Plan has been completed for every admission
• Monitor timeliness and quality of discharge summaries
• Provide regular feedback to DiTs, including the timely completion of mid and end of term assessments
• Alert the Director of Clinical Training (DCT) or Chief Medical Officer (CMO) if a DiT is identified to be in difficulty
• Participate in General Physician roster
• Ensure comprehensive clinical handover when coming off duty
• Participate in Specialist Outpatient Clinics
• Supervise and support the delivery of Hospital in the Home (HITH) services
• Participate as a member of relevant meetings and committees, including Morbidity and Mortality meetings
• Participate in the delivery of formal and informal education and training to health service staff, including BPTs
• Other duties as directed by the Clinical Director of Medicine
