About Us:
Bidgerdii Community Health Service is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled primary health care service, managed by a Board of Directors who oversee and manage the strategic directions of the service and have been operating in the Rockhampton and Central Queensland region for close to 30 years.
Bidgerdii provides comprehensive primary health and well-being services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in the Rockhampton and surrounding regions. Bidgerdii collaborates with health and well-being partner agencies to enable integrated continuity of care for the community and continue to work to contribute to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health policy and program reform in Queensland.
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate General Practitioner (GP) to provide primary medical care to patients of all ages. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and treating a wide range of medical conditions, as well as promoting preventative health measures and providing patient education. This includes:
- Working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest quality of care for our patients.
- Providing best practice comprehensive primary health care optimising uptake and income generation across the service through MBS billings.
- Providing leadership in the safety and quality of clinical services delivered by the health team.
- Working in a multidisciplinary team environment with access to visiting allied health and specialist service responsible for demonstrating leadership in clinical quality, safety and fostering a culture of organisational reflection and continuous quality improvement.
- Conduct comprehensive medical assessments and physical examinations of patients.
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses, injuries, and infections.
- Prescribe medications and other treatments as necessary.
- Provide preventative care, including immunizations and health screenings.
- Educate patients on healthy lifestyle choices and disease prevention.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
About You:
The successful candidate will have passion and the ability to provide medical skills and expertise in the delivery of culturally competent comprehensive primary health care services as a member of the multidisciplinary team, in line with the approved service model and in response to the needs of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Qualification evidence as a Medical Practitioner MBBS, unconditional registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
- Eligible to obtain a provider number
- Understanding (or ability to develop understanding) and commitment to the concept, philosophy and practice of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled organisation.
- Working knowledge of health issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and a strong commitment to improving health outcomes of the community.
- Ability to work sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Strong diagnostic and clinical skills and commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated skills in providing clinical leadership in a multidisciplinary setting.
- Skills and experience in clinical teaching and health professional development.
- Computer skills – able to work effectively with electronic client record systems, primarily Communicare.
